Effective drone detection

Drones cause a lot of trouble even with little air traffic." This was announced by the DFS German Air Traffic Control in January 2021 via a press release. According to DFS, there were a total of 92 reported disabilities caused by drones in German airspace in 2020. A clear minus compared to previous years, which was, however, less severe than the drastic reduction in air traffic in the Corona year 2020. And more than half of the reported incidents led to disruptions in air traffic. Air traffic control and airport operators are therefore placing great hopes in the system for effective drone detection, which DFS is to develop on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure . in theIn the summer of last year, DFS investigated what an effective use of current detection systems at the major airports in Frankfurt and Munich could look like in live operation .
